MARITÉ UGÁS- Nace en Lima, Perú. Luego de graduarse en Comunicaciones en la Universidad de Lima, se une a la primera generación de la EICTV, Cuba, donde dirige, entre otras producciones, BARRIO BELEN, documental sobre el puerto habanero, premiado en Helsinki, Paris y Roma.

Sus primeros cortometrajes ya muestran su estilo y ritmo personal, como ALGO CAIA EN EL SILENCIO & COTIDIANO, premiados en New York, Bilbao, Maryland y Roma.

En el 1991 crea su empresa SUDACA FILMS, con sede en Caracas, donde trabaja como directora, productora, editora y guionista. Su primer largometraje, A LA MEDIA NOCHE Y MEDIA, (codirigido con Mariana Rondón) fue presentado en mas de 40 festivales internacionales, como Tokio, Rotterdam o Seattle, recibiendo premios de Opera Prima.

Como productora y montadora estrenó en 2007 POSTALES DE LENINGRADO, ganador de 23 premios internacionales. EL CHICO QUE MIENTE, su segundo largometraje, cuenta con el apoyo del CNAC (Venezuela), Ibermedia, EDD- Alemania, y prepara su estreno para 2011.

MARITÉ UGAS. Born in Lima, Peru. After a Degree on Communications from University of Lima, she joins the first generation of EICTV, Cuba, were she directs BELEN NEIGHBOURHOOD, documentary film about Havana’s harbor, awarded in Helsinki, Paris and Rome. 

Her first short films already show a personal rhythm style, such as SOMETHING FALLING INTO SILENCE and COTIDIANO, awarded in New York, Bilbao, Maryland and Rome.

In 1991 she creates her company Sudaca Films, established in Caracas, where she works as director, producer, editor and writer. Her first feature film, AT MIDNIGHT AND A HALF (co-director with Rondón), was shown in more than 40 International Film Festivals, such as Tokyo, Rotterdam or Seattle, receiving several Opera Prima Awards.

As producer and Editor, she released in 2007 POSTCARDS FROM LENINGRAD, with 23 international awards. Her second film, THE KID WHO LIES, is supported by CNAC (Venezuela) Ibermedia, EDD- Germany and will be released in 2011.
